Vertical Clearance -- A Note

January 12, 2000

The opening of the group show “Panic” with fifteen young contemporary students from the College of Fine Arts and the launching of “Vertical Clearance” by Michael Muñoz, Eric Roca and Erik Sausa at Surrounded By Water Ortigas were great successes. The works emphasized on visions and interpretations quite common to the culture around. Most interesting to note were the people who supported the show. The show drew intimate connections with its viewers and definitely this adds another range to the system. Jose Tence Ruiz was quite reflective about the turnabout of the artist generation historically.

A promise of a website for the two galleries were foremost in my mind though. It serves many possibilities of linking and creating a wider precept and thorough interpretation about the contemporary works. We could go on with this and much more if we gather a stronger following. The organization level is another. Beyond the vision I could sense the enthusiasm and vigor inherent with the youth. We call on the efforts of my group to consolidate what we have learned and freely share with the lot.
